Fitness Walking / Beginning Running
This is not your average walking workout. Over the course of eight weeks your walking workouts will gradually progress from flat easy walking to brisk paces, rolling hills, short intervals of fast walking and repeated hills. Experience Nordic walking poles, heart rate monitors and pedometers to chart your number of steps and miles walked and Garmin's to chart pace and mileage. Participants walk at their own pace but are encouraged to improve their pace throughout the course. Fitness levels are assessed prior to joining and compared to post workout tests to chart improvements. Results are quite dramatic.
Want to progress from walking to running? This class has the prefect structure. As soon as you can briskly walk three miles you are ready to begin Coach Cordes' Beginning Running training. You will slowly build up, minute by minute, from walking, to walking and jogging, to running. It is very exciting. Proper shoes will be discussed. Strength exercises will be recommended. Form and technique will be demonstrated and practiced at every workout. Sports nutrition information will be discussed to enhance energy and performance.
